Della's Oatmeal Cookies
These cookies are a staple at the Cape. The neighborhood children try to beat Bill to the cookie jar, but Della frequently stashes some away just tor him.
Ingredients
2 sticks margarine
3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cup sifted flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 cups oatmeal
1/2 tsp cinnamon
(Variations: add grated orange peel and nuts gr choco--
late drops gg caramel drops)
Instructions
Mix all ingredients together. Drop by spoonfuls on greased sheet. Bake until slightly brown. Cool one minute and then loosen by twisting or with spatula and let finish cooling on sheet before removing. Makes 40 to 60 cookies.
