Loveless Salad

The Original Binder · 1981-2017 people: barbara, dorothy, vestal, jo occasions: kids
This one is named after a former governor of Iowa, not Uncle Harold and Aunt Bobby Jo Loveless as we Vestal children used to think. It is always a surprise to people when the white things in the jello turn out not to be marshmallows, but rather are cottage cheese and horseradish. Dorothy was amazed when Barbara requested the recipe, but it really is at the top of the class for this genre of food.

Ingredients

1 pkg lemon Jello 1 pkg lime Jello 2 cups hot water 1 cup mayonnaise 1 cup evaporated milk 1 #2 can crushed pineapple, drained 1 pint cottage cheese 1/2 cup walnuts or pecans 1 tbsp horseradish

Instructions

Dissolve Jello in hot water. Let cool. Combine mayonnaise and milk. Fold into Jello. Add remaining ingredients and pour into mold. Makes 16 servings.
