Mystery Mocha Cake

Barbara has a special place in her memory for this cake but she wonders if any of the other Vestal children even remember it. Dorothy made it upon occasion and produced the recipe in response to a recent request.

Ingredients

3/4 cup sugar 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour 2 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp salt 1 square (1 oz) unsweetened chocolate 2 tbsp butter or margarine 1/2 cup milk 1 tsp vanilla 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1/4 cup cocoa 1 cup cold coffee

Instructions

Sift first four ingredients together. Melt chocolate and butter; add to first mixture. Blend well. Combine milk and vanilla; add to mixture and mix well. Pour batter into greased 8xBx2 inch pan. Combine brown and granulated sugars and cocoa. Sprinkle over batter. Pour coffee over top of batter. Bake in 350 degree 4 oven 40 minutes. Serve warm or cold. Delicious with whipped cream.
